Do most create wills for pets?

Question:

Do you find that most people make provisions in their wills or elsewhere for the care of their pets?

Answer:

No, and most attorneys drafting wills do not make the care of pets a routine part of the estate planning process. The pet owner must insist that provision be made for the care of pets in the will or other estate planning documents. You don’t have to be rich like Leona Helmsley to have a pet trust or other plan for your animals. Every person with pets should have a plan for the care of those pets, even if that person has very little money.
