Why do pet insurance premiums vary by state? Which state should I use if I have a residence in two different states?
Some pet insurance companies offer premiums that vary by state based upon loss (or claims) history from certain geographies. This is similar to how rates sometimes vary based upon the age or the breed of the pet you’d like to insure. A veterinarian in California may charge more for a spay or neuter than a veterinarian in Kentucky because of differences in overhead and administration costs to operate their respective clinics.
If you have dual residency, you can select either state to be represented on your pet insurance policy.
