Why don’t insurance companies offer coverage for pre-existing conditions?
Insurance is purchased for future unknown medical events. If pre-existing conditions were covered, everyone would simply wait until there was a medical need they could not afford. It would be similar to waiting until you have an accident to buy auto insurance. The good news, though, is that most pet insurers will cover pre-existing conditions if and once they are cured. So common problems like bladder infections, ear infections, GI upsets, and even gastric torsion and bloat can be covered in the future.
