Treating noise anxiety in dogs Discussions

March 31st, 2011

When young children hear a scary noise at night, they often run to their parents. The response is usually something like, "Don't worry, it was just thunder." Or, "It was just a noise, nothing to be frightened of." Unfortunately for a dog that is afraid of noise, no amount of explaining or consoling...

@ Anynomous: If you even had half a clue, you'd know that cuddling and fussing over your dog when begin afraid of thunder or anything for that matter, ENABLES that behaviour! Do yourself a favour and watch The Dog Whisperer - he has PROVEN this theory where a dog's fears increased substantially (of a polished wooden floor) when his owner consoled him about it. I feel sorry for your pets if you have any, since you don't have the faintest idea how dogs's mind works!

My lab Josie is 6yrs. weighs 65 lbs. and last year became afraid of thunder & kept pacing, scratching on the doors so I put a bungie goed on each closet door so the door would't shut than she would go right through the louvers. Plus my 10yr. old dog would be sleeping & Josie would atack her & bite her. Oh God,help us. I took her to the vet got meds but she got more worse with the meds & it made her very thirsty & would knock the lid off the dog food & just keep eatiing. I went to pet meds & bought Pet-eze plus #3 plus I ordered Anxiety & Stress by Resources on the internet, I give her more than the bottle states. The liquid seems to help within 1/2 hr. BUT I also bought a thunder shirt, helps some & a collar to try & calm her. I do all of them! When it thunders I take her for a walk sometimes not to easy but gotta do it! I'm trying everything!!!!It's not easy but I love her so much. I hope whom ever reads this will have luck with their dog. Hang in there.

No matter how hopeless it may feel (believe me, I’ve been in your shoes), there is a way out. I went from being a first time – complete newbie – dog owner with what seemed as a hopeless case of dog separation anxiety on my neck, to having the most secure and healthy pet I could imagine. So trust me when I say this: if i could do it, so can you! Some time ago I found a website on google. I am absolutely convinced that you’ll find the same value in this website/product as I did. This is your chance to quickly – and permanently - gain a healthy relationship with your puppy! http://www.dogsseparationanxietyebook.com
