This quick quiz will let you know what you're doing right and where you and your dog could both stand improvement.

How well is your dog housetrained?

1. You put your dog in her crate. What does she do?
Whines, cries, and carries on
Settles down for some rest time
2. What's your housetraining routine like?
We have a regular routine of crate time, potty time, and playtime.
We follow a loose routine of crate time and bathroom breaks.
We haven't really gotten into a routine.
3. How long has it been since your dog had an accident?
A day or two
A week
Two weeks or more
4. How much supervision does your dog get when she's loose in the house or yard?
I watch her closely whenever she's outside of her crate or playroom
I keep an eye on her -- and on the TV, the person I'm talking to, and the meal I'm making
I let her out by herself in the yard, but watch her in the house
She often gets unsupervised, free run of the house and yard
5. What's your response to a housetraining mistake?
I hit my dog on the nose with a newspaper, rub her nose in the mess, and/or drag her back to the mess and say, "Baaad girl!"
Clean it up and redouble my housetraining efforts
