Lilly is Silly!

2 yrs, 20# tri-colored gal whose one and only family was sad to give her up.  Her bossiness with other dogs and children is the reason.  She is housetrained and needs a fresh start with folks willing/able to sort out her pushiness.   Our behaviorist, Penny Scott-Fox, is excellent and in Altadena.  Check out her website in our links.  We are taking her advice with regard to this little/big one. 

We have absolutely known dogs we considered more difficult than Lilly find their perfect forever home - a single adult or couple who is 'calm assertive' - pls don't consider her unless you are willing to get training for yourself if need be and have patience with her. 

Can't help but think of a pretty young beagle girl who came to us shy, scared and that showed itself as fearful aggressive behavior - especially when pushed.   I ignored her - spoke in a cheerful voice when feeding her and otherwise did not approach her and try to win her over.  Two weeks passed before she felt comfortable to approach me and from then on, sailing got pretty smooth......sometimes you gotta sit back and let your own behavior be your means of communication and allow a pooch her own time/space to trust and find her place in the pack.

All our dogs are spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a new leash, collar, ID tag and all medical records.  We can microchip and always love to board our graduates.  Check out the 'Boarding' section of our web.  You can learn more about the adoption process from our website under 'adopt a dog' and 'contact and hours.'  Please bring the family and other dogs to visit any open house day/time.  Thanx!
