FROM THE SHELTER:
This is a courtesy posting for Philadelphias Animal Care and Control Team. This animal is available for FOSTER CARE. You may foster to adopt as well. Interested foster parents may meet these animals by appointment only. If you want to set up a meeting, please contact phillyshelterdogs@gmail.com.The ACCT Foster Program is one of the many life saving arms of the PSPCA. The primary reason for foster care is to provide a temporary home for a potentially adoptable animal whose current condition is not manageable in a shelter setting. PSPCA ACCT receives more dogs than there is space, and so moving dogs into foster homes not only saves them, but also the dog who gets their old cage space. Fostering a shelter animal is a wonderful and rewarding experience but can also be time consuming and hard work. Please seriously consider all of the aspects of the foster care program before deciding to apply to foster.
Although previous fostering experience is not required, ideal foster care providers will have basic knowledge of animal care and training and be committed to finding their foster animal a safe and loving forever home. As a foster parent, you will provide the animals with basic care including food, water, shelter, training, grooming and medical treatment when necessary. The PSPCA will provide clinic and vet care, behavior and training resources, and adoption counseling. You will also get free wellness care for up to four of your own animals at our vet clinic.
If you have dogs of your own, you must bring at least one to the shelter to meet any potential foster dogs and make sure there is no major personality clash. Please also bring proof that you are allowed dogs at your home if you rent.
PSPCA ACCT is located at: 111 W. Hunting Park Ave, Phila., PA 19140
CANE is a male 1-2 year old Pit mix. This sweet faced boy was surrendered by his owners because they could not afford him. He is friendly and high energy and needs to find foster care with someone that can give him the stimulation that he needs. Cane has been behaviorally evaluated as highly adoptable, and loves to play and be snuggles. He is choosy with his dog friends, and when he does meet new dogs, very dominant and pushy. He needs proper guidance and some socialization. Look at his eyes!
