Say hello to Vanna!!

UPDATE 11/16/09: Vanna is doing great. At about 13.5 weeks old, she's now up to about 18 lb. Her foster mom says that housetraining is coming along nicely and since Vanna is a smart little gal, she is picking up hand signs quickly. She is learning to walk nicely on a leash, can 'sit' and has learned 'down'. Vanna has learned to like her crate and now sees it as a place to get away and to take her puppy naps. Vanna is a normal Boxer pup in that she's very active and playful. She plays well with the other dogs in the home and with the children. She is up to date on her age appropriate vaccines and will be spayed some time next month.

Vanna is an adorable little white Boxer girl with a docked tail and naturally floppy ears. At only 8 weeks old, Vanna weighs about 11 lb. Vanna is deaf.

Vanna was surrendered to us by a breeder who felt a rescue organization could do a better job at placing a deaf dog. She's quite the little cutie pie! She is very sweet and seems to have no fear. She is already trying to run with the big dogs in her foster home. Vanna is now up to date on her age appropriate vaccines. As we get to know this little squirt better, we will update here.

Please know that with a deaf dog it is EXTREMELY necessary that an adoptive home have a fenced yard. A guardian with deaf dog experience would be ideal. At the very least, a guardian that is willing to make a serious commitment to learning to communicate, train and live with a deaf dog is essential.
