FROM THE SHELTER:

(05SEP09) Chili is a senior long-hair Chihuahua that originally came to a New Jersey animal shelter as a stray. He was not claimed by an owner, and when his time ran out, he came to our rescue.

Chili Pepper is 8-9 years old, and weighs in at just under 8 lbs. He's a very spunky little guy, and with those cute little ears and his soft, shiny black coat he's quite a looker, too! He is ok with some of the dogs in his foster home, but does not care for others. He has some dominance issues, and would be happier as an only dog. Chili doesn't seem to mind the cats, but will chase if they run in front of him. Chili plays with toys a little bit, and loves to roll over for belly rubs!

Chili Cheese Fries is a typical Chihuahua in that he may need a little time to warm up to people. His adopter needs to realize this and be prepared to give him time if he needs it to feel comfortable with his surroundings and his people. Once you've earned his trust, you'll have a friend for life! He warmed up to his foster mom in no time, and Chili is about as cuddley a dog as you could hope for!

Chili Con Queso seems to have some barrier aggression, especially when there is food involved. This is demonstrated when he is crated. While in his crate, he will lung and bark at some (but not all) dogs as they walk by, and is worse with food in the crate. A shelter employee also mentioned him growling at a volunteer after being fed in his cage while at the shelter. I have not had any issues with him personally, but for this reason, I will not place Chili in a home with children.

Chili-chili-bang-bang is neutereded, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative, and flea/worm treated. Could this little Chili chunk be the dog for you?!? Adoption fee: $150
