New to rescue on 6/20/09 from a northeastern Ohio Animal Control Facility.
Bail is being fostered in Creston OH.

Bail is a young adult, under 2 years of age. He was found as a stray limping on his left hind leg. After his 72 hour hold he was taken into rescue. We have an appointment on 6/22 to have his left hind leg radiographed. He will also be heartworm tested, brought current on shots, and micro-chipped, hopefully at this time he will also be neutered. Our main concern is addressing his hind leg which he prefers not to use. Despite being in pain, Bail is happy to play with our other foster dogs. He is good with the children he has met also, his nub of a tail just wags as fast as it can. While in rescue he will learn crate training, housebreaking, leash manners, and basic obedience. We will update his bio after his vet appointment.

Update 6/22/09: Bail's radiograph's show an old, untreated break to his femoral head. What a shame he has been in so much pain for at least 4-6 months, if not longer. It is being recommended he have Fermoral Head Osteotomy Surgery (FHO). Prognosis is good for his recovery and use of his leg after therapy. Bail also tested positive for heartworms, so he will be treated for that also. There are some new proceedures for heartworm treatment, so we will discuss what is in Bail's best interest along with his FHO surgery. He was neutered today while under anesthesia, brought up to date on vaccines & micro-chipped. Despite his past neglect he is still a very loving, happy dog. Bail will now get the treatment he so desperately needs and deserves.

If interested please fill out an adoption application as this is the first step to the adoption process. We also do a telephone interview, check references, and home visits. A contract and adoption fee applies. Our adoption fee is $200. All our foster dogs are altered, heartworm tested and kept on prevention, had age appropiate shots, fecal tests, are micro-chipped, and are kept on a premium food.

PLEASE NOTE: AuCaDo Rescue is not a public shelter. This dog is being fostered in a private home until adoption. Prospective adopters who have submitted an accepted application and completed a telephone interview are welcome to schedule an appointment to travel to meet the dog. The dogs are adopted on first come, first serve basis. If approved for adoption, a deposit will hold the dog until a meeting or transport is arranged. Sometimes (no promises) transport help can be arranged, just ask us.
