12/08 - Josie is doing wonderfully! Wish I would have updated her bio a long time ago. She is on Enapril (heart medicine) once a day now. She's happy and active. She would do best as the only canine in the family because of her heart so that she doesn't over do it. She is so sweet and loving and gives the best hugs ever!

This is Josie. MCHS asked me to pull a pregnant dog from them that they felt was just ready to bust on 7/9/07. When I went to pick her up her belly was HUGE and felt like a tight water balloon but, there was no teet formation for a dog that looked to be so far along. Dr. J, our vet, saw her immediately and what was found was that she was not pregnant at all! This little loving gal is heartworm positive and has suffered congestive heart failure from the heartworms causing her abdominal area to fill with fluid thus making her appear so big. Josie is on a special heartworm treatment because of the intensity of her situation, blood pressure medicine and a dieretic to decrease the fluid build up. In these pictures that were taken this morning 7/12/07 you cannot get the full idea of what she originally looked like as the dieretic is doing it's job well and her belly area has gone down quite a bit.
