My name is Ellie May. I'm currently in foster care, but would love for you to meet me! I'm a sweet gal that loves to talk. I enjoy car rides and being around people. I'm the type of gal who likes to be free to roam around (whether in a house or a nice big yard) and I enjoy company. Please call the shelter to arrange a time for us to meet!


Ellie May's foster says:

She is still a talker, and a lover, great intelligence with a need for an owner that can give her lots of undivided attention. Ellie is so eager to please, she gets along with anyone now, even cats and other female dogs, men and women of all sorts, as far as I can tell so far. She has not met anyone that she did not let give her attention. She is a lady on a leash, but only when the person walking her asserts some alpha authority. She will take advantage of a perceived weakness when walking on a leash. That is not uncommon in a dog with a strong will and intelligence, of which Ellie May possesses both traits. However, if her human is properly trained on leash excercise, Ellie May responds well. She knows sit, stay, lay down, heel and stop. Of course stop is the most important. I use the analogy of a car. What is the most important pedal? Teens will invariably say the gas pedal or clutch, but it is the 'Brake.' Because no matter whether or not you are able to go forward, backward and switch gears, if you cannot stop, you are in trouble, and Ellie responds well to my voice for stop commands, but with others she may require a little leash work until she 'breaks in' a newly trained human. We have had her long enough now, that her obedience is a foregon conclusion.
