Dutch has put on a little weight over the past month (along with his foster mom and dad). We are working it off as a team. Dutch still walks well on a leash when he is by himself but tends to be a handful when walking with his foster brother. They like to wrap themselves around your legs as a tag team. Sometimes them compete to see who is out in front as the leader of the pack. We are working with Dutch to teach him that mom (or dad ) is leader of the pack.

Dutch is now a pro and will sit for anyone. Still needs work to reduce jumping when he gets excited. Working on coming when called, he gets easily distracted. Dutch really enjoys roughhousing with his foster brother but can be bullied when his foster brother wants his own way. Dutch is very afraid of really loud noises and prefers to run and hide from them. His foster family needs to take special care to make sure Dutch gets his fair share of attention too but he definitely shows his appreciation when we do.

Dutch has a new foster brother, a 2 yr old Papillon and the two get along very well. They love to wrestle and run together. Dutch would love a home with another friend his size and age. Dutch gets along with all visitors in my home and continues to be a sweetheart but still has that extra energy that can be trying. Dutch has tried his paw at swimming and does not love the water but has learned that in the dog days of summer, wading in the creek can be fun.
6/09 Dutch is still doing well. He is getting along great with the cat in his foster home. They actually lay together and play wrestle. He is gentle, we are trying to keep this behavior under control as some other cat might not be as tolerant. Otherwise, he is loving the summer sunshine. Dutch does best when kept on a schedule. He can be nervous at times.
5/09 Dutch is doing well in his new foster home because he loves all the attention that comes with being an only dog. He tries to play with all the dogs we meet when we go for walks and probably do well with another dog his size. He enjoys long walks and morning jogs and is good on a leash. We have been doing clicker training and Dutch is catching on. He needs work on not jumping when he gets excited. Dutch has not marked at all in his new house. He is trying to get along with the cat but she hasn't made it easy for him. They are doing better now and she naps nearby while he is in his favorite bed, the clean clothes in the laundry basket.
3/09 Please help me!!! I am surrounded by a bunch of snotty Chihuahua's, I need a home with a dog my size to hang around with. These Chihuahua's try to get me, but I am a good boy and I don't get them back. I am playful with people, don't play with toys yet. My favorite place to sleep is on the top of the couch. I'm not thrilled with cats, but am a really good boy and leave the cat alone.
1/26/09 Dutch is a very active boy who needs a home with someone who is willing to give him alot of exercise. He has adjusted to sleeping in a crate at night and eating in a crate very nicely. Would do best in a home that has another smaller dog for him to pal around with.
12/27/08 Dutch is a very nice boy. Gets along with all the other dogs. Is totally crate trained, is mostly housetrained, does wear a bellyband in the house because of marking. Loves to go for walks and walks wonderful with collar and leash. Is more relaxed and is getting used to all the different noises and people. Loves to sit on you in the evening while your watching TV. Is just the right size for someone that likes to do outside activities. Loves the man in the house and is good with my teenage children.
Dutch was a rescue from a high kill shelter, he is a mix and our guess is Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He is a good weight at 16#. He is a very handsome boy and is the right size for someone who likes to be outside taking walks, hiking...... He is a timid boy and would be wonderful for someone, he will bond quickly. He does frighten easily with any loud noises or quick movement. He seems to be housetrained, keeps a clean crate, is leash trained and seems to like adults more then young children. Would not recommend for a home that has young children, would do best with teenagers and older. Did escape from our wooden fence(made out of lattice because we have small Chihuahua's).
