Sammy is a cute male Beagle that weighs 29 pounds. He's thought to be about 3 years old. Sammy was found standing in the middle of a country road when a kind-hearted person stopped and picked him up. While many stray dogs are initially fearful of strangers, his foster mom reports: "This little guy took one look at me and jumped in my arms." He seemed confused and was understandably relieved to see a friendly face!

He was not wearing a collar or any form of ID and it is quite possible he was dumped there. A call was made to animal control, but stray Beagles without collars were frequently picked up in the area--most are never reclaimed.

Sammy's foster mom already had a house full of dogs, but decided to take him in and give him another chance. She didn't intended to keep him, but could immediately see that not only was he adorable but a very adoptable dog. He fit in with her own dogs right way.

Sammy has since been neutered and is current on vaccinations. He is trained to a doggie door and has not had any accidents since he first arrived. He was tested for heartworms and is negative. Outside Sammy likes to track scents in the backyard and chortle as he follows the trail. He loves to roll around in the grass and play with the other hounds. Sammy is a good dog that really deserves a forever home.

It's no surprise that Sammy's owner never bothered to come looking for him, as that is so often the case. Sammy got lucky that day when he found a special friend.
