Ernie is a beautiful example of two European breeds, crossed. I suggest that you research both on Google, especially the Bernese Mountain Dog from Switzerland. Both breeds are highly trainable, although the "Berner" tends to think things over and may need a patient trainer. Both are basically outside dogs that also do well indoors. "Berners" are well-known for their gentleness with children. Ernie and his brother, Bert, are kept in a pen because they chase the farm cats and that is why they are up for adoption. Both breeds can be very large when fully mature. These is a powerful, loving dog and would be a good match for a person who is willing to train him and take him to doggy school. To meet these big beauties, call Mary at (217) 466-4885.
