Hi everyone. I'm here to tell Jane' story (well, at least what we know of it). Jane was found in the middle of the road at 3:00 A.M. She had been hit by a car and was unable to drag herself out of the middle of the road. The people who hit her did not bother to stop. A very nice man found her, called a local vet clinic and took her in for care. Her medical condition was grim. The blood vessels in both eyes were broken, her tail was tucked and she was in the saddest shape I have ever seen a dog. The vet said to survive she would need 24 hour nursing care but would make it. Her pelvic bone was crushed, a back leg had a fracture, she had blacktop burns on her face and chest and her gums were black and blue. But the worst part was seeing her cower when any attention, including a pat on the head, was offered. She obviously has not experienced much good at the hands of humans. Anyway, I decided to bring her home. She has been living with me for 7 days now and has me trained very well . . . every little whimper, I go running. She is eating well, loves to be babied and massaged, doesn't want to rest anymore (that's way too BORING), and has decided she wants to be part of my little 'pack'. She now wags her tail & perks up her ears when she sees me and I got doggie 'kisses' this morning so I think she has turned the corner and is mending. We are due back at the vet's on 10/20 for a checkup and I will write more after that visit.
