Please contact Monica R Larner (cowdogrescue@gmail.com), (989) 330-5147 for more information about this pet.

Tucker is a 2 year old male mix consisting of Australian Cattle Dog and Australian Shepherd. His ACD (Australian Cattle Dog physical traits are: Erect ears, long tail, some red speckling color and bentley mark. His Australian Shepherd physical traits are: Longer hair, taller height, and some large body spots.

We are learning more about his personality, before he is ready to go after October 25th. Tucker needs to be completely vetting also in the 2 week waiting time. So far, Tucker seems nervous, but is not shutting down, just shakes. His first owner says that he knows some tricks and is obedient, but too much energy for their lifestyle. The owner has recently married and brought children into the household, which Tucker would like to 'herd'. This is typical of the breed, which can be worked thru with an experienced owner.

Update 10-18-08 Tucker was taken to MSU for his vetting, and while there was evaluated as to the cause of his shaking. It seems that Tucker has a neurological problem that causes his back legs to shake uncontrollably. The rescue is now faced with some decisions on what is best for Tucker. 1. To get a better idea of what is going on, they can run a myelogram for around $1000. This would most likely help diagnose the problem but not fix the problem. 2. We are going to schedule a consult with the Neurologist and find out the recommendations and ask about his quality of life. Since Tucker has a great temperament and doesn't let this slow him down, we are going to try this route first. If the Neurologist tells us his quality of life is not going to be good, then we will have to make the humane decision. I realize that most people want that 'perfect' dog and while physically he is not perfect, his personality more than makes up for it. I can take Tucker running beside the 4 wheeler and he really enjoys running. When I go out into the exercise yard, and he sees the leash, he hopes I am coming for him. At MSU today, the head vet commented that he is such a nice dog, it would be a shame to put him down.
