Dog Story:
Rusty is a really sweet, older guy who loves (did I say loves) to go for walks. And, he walks pretty well on the leash. He will pull if he is really excited ? but corrects nicely. He also loves any and all attention he can get (including brushing). He can be a bit pushy for attention so we are working with him on waiting and knowing when it is his turn for the 'loves'. He is a bit needy (understandably) -- follows me everywhere in the house. He now sits to get attention and isn?t jumping up when he is excited to see you. He will bolt the front door (his recall is not good ? unless in the backyard with treats!) ? he is learning ?back? and ?wait?. Rusty would benefit from an obedience class - and what a good way to bond with his new family. He loves to please!! He will run around a bit in the backyard but also enjoys sitting in the backyard to watch and investigate things. He is good with kids ? he?s been around kids from 3 years to 10 years ? since he loves the attention he?ll sit to get pet forever!! He is fine with the other dogs he lives with -- male and female ? all ages. He even befriended the cranky old girl that just moved in from a shelter. It would be nice for him to go to a home with another dog ? but we think he?d be fine as an only boy too. Cats on the other hand are not a good idea ? he stalks them obsessively and will try to grab them if he?s near them. Rusty is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is heart worm negative and on preventative. Rusty came back to rescue a bit chunkier than he left (18 lbs heavier!), so he is on a diet and exercise program. He has already lost 3.3 lbs! His health is good and he had a dental last summer.


History:
Rusty came into rescue last spring from Illinois as a stray. He was adopted by a very caring older gentleman last summer. Due to recent health issues of his new owner, Rusty needed to come back into rescue. Rusty also was being left home for longer periods of time and was not adapting well to this. He was shaved by the groomer before he was turned back in to rescue ? so his hair in the photos isn?t as beautiful as it was last summer. He cannot wait until he grows back his nice Brittany feathers and regains his svelte body! When his foster mom went to pick him up she didn?t even recognize him (except for his beautiful soulful eyes and his little happy dance he did when he recognized her)!
