Buttermilk was relinquished to a high kill shelter because he didn't like the grandchildren. Rather than separate the kids from the dog during the occasional visits, it was easier to discard the dog with no regard for his outcome. He was marked for death because they had 'labeled' him at the shelter because of their lack of expertise and experience in reading dogs. He was scared and confused, so did not show well either. He was given a reprieve because of the plea of a kind hearted employee. Rescue intervened and he was given a second chance at life.

It is difficult to understand the reason he was given up. He is housebroken and well behaved. He gets along with well behaved older children, but due to his supposed past, I would not recommend small children who do not heed a dog's warnings.

We do process the applications in the order that they are received. We cannot guarantee any particular dog will still be available by the time we get to your application. We cannot respond to each application or keep you updated as we go along. We do not consider a dog adopted until the process has been completed and a contract has been signed. As long as the dog is still listed, it is still available and we are processing applications. As soon as a dog is adopted, it is removed from the list.
