Quincy is a fine looking, middle-aged Irish Setter.
True to the Setter breed, he is calm while in the house and loves to run like the wind when out-of-doors.
Extremely well-mannered around people, he suffers from slight separation anxiety. In his need for people, he has escaped from crates and opened front doors. He would do well with a family who has someone home all the time or an owner who works in a dog-friendly environment and can be taken to work.
Quincy is great around other pets, including dogs -large and small- and cats. If a cat runs, he may give chase but 99% of the time ignores them except to eat their infinitely tasty, albeit fattening, dry food. Quincy is very peaceful and loving toward people. He tries to be very obedient but sometimes shows his independent “awe, do I have to?” Setter attitude. But he is a “soft” dog and a stern word is all it takes to remind him who is his master and he is quick to please.
At an earlier age, Quincy may have been a fine upland bird hunter but now he loves the cushy life. He is at his best when sleeping on a blanket on the office floor or snoozing in the over-stuffed chair surrounded by pillows and sheepskin at home.
Quincy loves food and sometimes will beg and surf the garbage. He will need a home that is judicious in handing out treats plus keeps his stomach and intestines safe from his foolhardy taste-buds.
Quincy rides well and travels easily, as he is always happy to be around his family. Left alone in the vehicle, he sleeps or chews on bully-sticks.
All-in-all, Quincy is an excellent dog with a few quirks. He is such an easy and loving dog: he is just too smart for his own good!! It’s true, you may have to make a few adjustments to have Quincy live in your home but he will make an OUTSTANDING companion for that loving and mindful home.

All dogs and cats adopted from the Everett Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered. They are micro chipped, wormed, given flea treatment, and vaccinated. Dogs are also given Kennel Cough vaccine; and cats are tested for Feline Aids and Leukemia. We also give each dog and cat a new collar for the micro chip and license tags.
