Hi!
My name is Maple and I am about 10 months to 1 year old. I was surrendered to LBR after my owners gave me away and then that person gave me to his disabled Grandmother who reached out to LBR because she could not handle me. She told LBR that I was aggressive and had separation anxiety. When the LBR volunteers came to evaluate me, they looked me over from head to tail. I didn't mind that at all. They noted 1 flea (knowing there's always more!), my ears were red and raw but that was really it. Then, they introduced me to another dog and I did react kinda badly. Lucky for me, 1 of the ladies was convinced that it wasn't 'true aggression' but that something else was going on with me. Boy, was that an understatement!
My new foster Mom and Dad immediately bathed me to get rid of those nasty fleas and that 1 flea turned into hundreds! They were shocked at how many of those little buggers were on me! Some of the bites were even infected! EEWWW! Then I really started to show how sick I was; I started vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. They took me to see the Doctor and was diagnosed with Parvovirus. They hospitalized me for about a week - that was rough - but I made it thru the treatment. I lost some weight during that episode but am quickly regaining it now. So just after the battle with Parvo, I came down with a Bladder infection, then a problem with my neck, then I was spayed. It's just been 1 thing after another, which is why I'm really not available for adoption yet. My foster parents are nursing me back to health and working with me on my behavior. Now that I am feeling better I am much nicer to my foster Boxer siblings. I am trying hard to get healthy and learn manners so I can find my forever home!
If you think I might be the companion for you, please fill out an adoption application because once I'm cleared medically I hope to be with my new, loving family to start my new life!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Love,
Maple

HELP! Lighthouse is in desperate need of foster homes. The dogs are coming into the shelters of Ohio faster than we can save them. Currently we only have a couple of foster homes, and we can only take in as many dogs as we have foster homes. If you love boxers, are a responsible pet owner, and are looking for a way to give back please vist our website and complete a volunteer application. Thank you

Maple
