I had wanted to be a veterinarian since I was a little girl. In 1996, that dream was realized when I graduated from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, I have had the pleasure of working in many different small animal hospitals. My first job out of school was in a small, rural hospital and then from there I went on to work at an emergency clinic (always a special interest of mine). I then moved on to several large hospitals with many doctors and specialists, and for many years, honed my diagnostic and surgical skills. After leaving these large clinics, I worked at several smaller hospitals where I was able to enjoy a closer relationship with my clients and patients. My professional interests are emergency and critical care medicine and surgery, feline medicine, internal medicine and shelter medicine. I am dedicated to the best care for my patients in every aspect.

Outside of veterinary medicine, my passion is white-water kayaking, and I enjoy teaching other women this fantastic sport. Throughout my career, I have volunteered my services helping wildlife and have had the pleasure of holding a seasonal, part-time position at a dedicated wildlife hospital. I have served as a board member and president of a charitable organization which assists pet owners in need with emergency veterinary care. I also volunteer with an organization which promotes sterilization for feral cats and education on humane care for feral cat caregivers -- and, I'm involved with a project to develop a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter clinic.

I am currently President of the Board of Directors of the Niagara Frontier Pet Emergency Fund and will serve in this position until December, 2007. This charitable organization provides financial assistance for pet owners in need during emergency situations. We serve the entire western New York area. My feral cat organization is Feral Cat Focus -- we assist dedicated feral cat care-givers with sterilization, health care for feral cats, and education on their care.
