Quarantine laws

According to the Department of Agriculture website, there is a "Five Days or Less" quarantine program for dogs who qualify by following a stringent series of vaccines and check-ups prior to arrival in Hawaii.  Owners have to start preparing at least 120 days before arrival and pay as much as $224 in fees.  Dogs must have been vaccinated at least twice for rabies, have a  microchip and have rabies blood samples tested by Kansas State University  or the DOD lab.  Following a successful test result, animals must wait at least 120 days before arriving in Hawaii.  Some lucky dogs even qualify for direct release at the airport--they'll need to be inspected at the airport animal quarantine holding facility  upon arrival. www.kahalaresort.com
