• Field Spaniels need regular contact with people; they become neurotic if locked away in a kennel or out in a yard with no human companionship.
• Socialize them well when young to avoid timidity and problems with other dogs.
• They are active dogs and require regular exercise.
• They will follow their nose so a securely fenced yard is a must.
• Field Spaniels love water and will play in any water they find, including their water bowl in the house. They will share the fun by bringing the water to you also.
• They love to eat and will steal food when possible.
• To get a healthy dog, never buy a puppy from an irresponsible breeder, puppy mill, or pet store. Look for a reputable breeder who tests her breeding dogs to make sure they're free of genetic diseases that they might pass onto the puppies, and that they have sound temperaments.
