Hi there — I need some advice and maybe a little guessing. I bought an adorable female Scottie from whom I thought was a reputable breeder. Her price was low enough to be suspicious but I couldn’t find anything wrong (I have had scotties before). We bonded immediately and I was in in doggie love. So imagine my surpise — and horror — when I took her to the vet the day after I took her home and was told she was 1 month pregnant. I called the breeder very upset, but she hung up on me and wouldn’t take my calls or emails. My darling girl had seven, yes, seven!) puppies two weeks ago. I live in a one bedroom apartment so keeping them is impossible. Is there anyway at this young age if I can find out if they are full-blooded scotties or some strange mix — of of course the breeder wouldn’t tell. They are all solid black (like their mother), have pointed ears and squarish faces). Any guesses? |

Well first of all the breeder wasn’t a reputable one if they hung up on you!!!! I believe you can take the puppies to a vet to see if they are a mixed breed, but I heard the test is expensive and also not all vets have the test since it is relatively new. |
