Please help! I am looking for advise for our bull terrier. He has been put in some situations where he is scared & or hurt lately and he has ended up biting. What can I do to help fix this behavior? I really think that situations have really contributed to this!!! I am going to take him to a specialist in hopes of helping him! I had my vet say he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and then say he is a mad dog? He was drugged one time and I don’t think he was in his right mind! Any suggestions, we LOVE him! |

It is good that you are taking your dog to a behaviorist. When dogs display aggressive behavior (biting in your pet’s case) it is crucial that you seek the services of a trained dog behaviorist. You are right in saying that past experiences (exposure to cruelty or stressful situations) usually affect a dog’s psyche making him/her unstable. In this link they give an overview about aggression and some helpful tips to deal with the problem: |

Hi, I might be able to direct you to some help, either articles or books or a behaviorist or bully person in your area who has been through similar circumstances. You can email me off list at info at BigAppleBullies.com (of course substituting a @ where I put the word "at") We see a lot of behavior problems (I hesitate to call them that…let’s call them "challenges") with bull terriers but almost always they can be managed with the correct training and desensitization methods. |
