I have been trying to decide and have been researching for months now, I just can’t decide, I would get a female dobie, or a male amstaff, i know that for sure, I have owned a lab and 3 shiba’s before, other members of my family currently own pits, if someone wants to, please give me what you would pick and why, only educated people, please(meaning no one saying ” oooh i want a tea-cup chihuahua!”)

Actually, it would probably all depend on what you’re looking for: the pitbull is more a companion and family dog while the doberman, who’s very athletic, is in the group of the working dogs.

Maybe you should try a matchup. This will help you look for the dog that suits your personality and lifestly.

ive done all the matchups, like 10 different sites, they are both always in the top 5, and both are 2 of my favorite breeds.

personally i would get a doberman
because i like their personality + their cute [;

& yes i did research about them ;)

If you want someone who is going to love you, and be loyal, caring, happy to see you when you get home, and fun and energetic, I say go with the Pit-Bull.

We love our pit bull but, I will tell you he is a LOT of work. If you are leaning toward a pit or amstaff, I would suggest a young dog but not a puppy. These dogs are certainly loveable and loyal but require lots of attention and training. I agree with italianprince they are caring, energetic and boy are they happy to see you. They are extremely smart, too.

Out of those choices I would pick the Pitbull but would make sure it came from a respectable breeder with good breeding ethics.

I agree to do some serious research on the breeder, especially before you buy a pit bull. Pit Bull pups are absolutely amazing!! They are loveable and have quite the personality. We have a blue who just turned a year and also an American Bulldog who is almost 6 and you will never find a better companion then either one of them. Actually the Pit Bull is way more docile than the ABD. He wiggles when we come home he is so happy, he sleeps with all of the kids every night, and his personality is so out of this world. Just make sure that you check into the breeder and meet the parents before you give a deposit. Whether or not you have kids you should make sure he or she can get along with things that make alot of noise and not be bothered though. The last thing I suggest with getting a pit bull is to make sure as a pup you take him around alot of people and other animals & be ready to wear him out with playing catch, tug of war, or run him alot. They also do well with a kong ball to chew instead of furniture which mine have never tried but I have heard alot of stories of them eating furniture!! They are so cute but they really like the insoles of shoes!! (LOL!!) Good luck trying to make up your mind.

Some excellent advice in the replies here… but I am surprised anyone would recommend getting a pit bull from a breeder when there are so many pit bulls available for adoption from shelters. If you decide to get a pit bull, PLEASE do not buy one from a breeder, but adopt one from a shelter. I have had several PBs and ABDs over my lifetime – all were rescues (I am a shelter worker) and all were wonderful, sweet, well-behaved companions. Humane Society, ASPCA, and bully breed rescue shelters put the dogs through many tests and trials before deeming them adoptable, so you are sure to find a wonderful furry friend!

Doberman are super-intelligent and super-active dog. You also get an extremely loyal, trustworthy dog that’s playful and fun-loving with his family. He’s a natural protector who won’t hesitate to act when he thinks his family is under threat, but he is not aggressive without reason. The Dobie likes to be busy, physically and mentally. He learns quickly, and training him is easy.

Those who know him say that a well-bred and properly socialized Dobie is an excellent pet and companion, suitable for families with other dogs, gentle with young children, and overall a loyal and devoted family member.

When raised with the proper training and socialization, the American Pit Bull Terrier makes an excellent companion for children. He is loving and gentle with people and often makes a lousy guard dog because of his tail-wagging eagerness to greet the person at the door. They are devoted and loyal to their family.

These dogs are extremely intelligent and learn commands and tricks with ease. They have a zest for life and love to be involved in everything going on around them. They maintain a puppyish demeanor well into adulthood, and that vitality makes them a joy to live with. Once you have met and gotten to know this breed you will wonder how you ever lived without one.

They’re basically affectionate with family, easy to groom and playful. No doubt, i’ll go for the Doberman. These breeds are very intelligent that’s why they’re easy to train. They have great ability as watchdog.
