Hello!

Does anyone know about the docking of a coonhound’s tail? I rescued a black & tan/tree walker coonhound mix a few years ago and his tail was docked REALLY SHORT! Just like a rottweiler’s. Is there some reason for this?

Thanks!

The only reason I can think of for any breed of coon hound to have a docked tail would be a medical reason. Maybe his tail was injured or defleshed in an accident and had to be amputated to prevent infection from spreading. Normally hound’s tails are not docked.
