Beagle or any other breed will be just as content being the only dog in the household as long as he has a good pack leader for companionship. Be sure your dog is socialized with other dogs and people and different environments. The stories you are probably hearing is that of the Beagle as a hunter, where there were anywhere from 10-20 or more Beagles together “on the hunt”. I had a Beagle when I was a youngster and this little gal was a hoot! We tried her out in the field for rabbit hunting… she was gun shy, so she became just a plain old house dog and our very best friend and made the rounds at night time sleeping on each of our beds! Ask yourself, who wants another addition to the pack, you or your dog? Anyway you look at it, make a good, practical decision. Off to the Hunt! |
