hi my name is holly and im a beagle owner. I have heard many stories about that beagles are better pets if you have another beagle or dog to keep them company. Is this true?

hi, we have 2 beagles…. 5yr old male, and 3yr old female. They are
so happy together, always side by side when walking, sleeping or playing. They rarely bark, and where one is, the other follows. I highly recommend having more than one, if you can get through the puppy stage, and the initial power struggle of a new member of the “pack”..... we hope to add our 3rd and final beagle to our “pack” next year!

Beagle or any other breed will be just as content being the only dog in the household as long as he has a good pack leader for companionship. Be sure your dog is socialized with other dogs and people and different environments. The stories you are probably hearing is that of the Beagle as a hunter, where there were anywhere from 10-20 or more Beagles together “on the hunt”. I had a Beagle when I was a youngster and this little gal was a hoot! We tried her out in the field for rabbit hunting… she was gun shy, so she became just a plain old house dog and our very best friend and made the rounds at night time sleeping on each of our beds!

Ask yourself, who wants another addition to the pack, you or your dog? Anyway you look at it, make a good, practical decision.

Off to the Hunt!
