I got my basset, Nigel, when he was 7 weeks old. He’s now 12 and was just diagnosed with inoperable lymphoma. He’s stopped eating his dinner, but for some reason he still loves to each junk off the sidewalk. But I know it’s time to put him down, and my sister is coming into town tomorrow and, along with my partner, we’ll take him to the vet for the last time on Sunday. My heart is broken, but I know I’m doing the right thing for him. IMHO, keeping your best friend alive by pumping him full of drugs just so he can get sick enough to be put down is wrong. My heart goes out to you both. I know exactly what you’re going through. |
