I am going to adopt a 1 1/2 year old male Bassett Hound next weekend. He has lived outside since he was born, but my husband and I want to keep him inside. Any advice on how to properly house train him? Thanks |

Hope all is going well with the potty training. Don’t worry sometimes it takes a little time, especially with one who’s never been house trained before. He’ll get it eventually. Would love to see pictures. |

I have found that the dogs who have spent most of their time outdoors rarely ever go potty inside. The seem to just know that it isn’t the right place to do it. My puppy spent the first few months of his life in his previous owners yard and he has had very few accidents. Same with my 2nd oldest, he has gone potty in the house one time in 8 years. He did it right in front of his bowl so I would know who did it. |

Bassets are tough to train but food is the best carrot! |
