Abby is almost 7 months olds, weighs 4 1/2 pounds. She will hardly eat anything unless I hand feed her. She’s not crazy over hard puppy food so that’s why I started hand feeding her. I don’t see how she exists on the amount of food she comsumes and I worry about her. I’m wondering about mixing her hard food “Iams’ puppy food” with Little Ceasars canned food. She does however have 3 good size BMs a day.
Any suggestions?

We just went to the vet and talked about this issue. Luna is not crazy about her food anymore, so she won’t eat her breakfast in the morning but most of the time she’ll get to it eventually (lunch time or later). She is not wasting away, she is now close to 50 lb. The vet suggested mixing it with canned food, but to be honest, I really don’t want to take that step. I know if I do it, she’ll expect it all the time. I have hand fed her because of training her to be gentle and she still likes it, so I’m willing to do that. Anyway, the vet said the mixing with a little bit a canned food does work for her finicky eater. I have mixed her food with ground beef and with eggs on ocassions and she loves that and will eat the whole thing. I would rather do that than using canned food but I think it’s a matter of personal preference.

Thank you Luna for your reply. Abby doesn’t like beef very much and won’t eat eggs. She’ll eat anything chicken so I tried putting chicken broth on her food. She wouldn’t touch it! I also boil chicken breast for her as a treat and she likes it for a while but then it starts getting old to her too. I put coconut oil, the kind you cook with on my feet and she loves to eat a small taste of it. Now on the other hand she loves almost anything she sees me eating except for the eggs and beef.

I’ve spent alot of money on foods that the vets say she’ll love only to have her look at me like she can’t believe I’d try to feed her that. I’m totally stumped!
