I need to know what kind of treat “bones” are OK for my puppy to chew on. I got her a big (way too big) rawhide bone but it is so big, she really can’t do much to it and loses interest right away. Then I got her one that is shaped like a cigar and she loves it. My concern is, this one is made out of pig-skin. Is it OK for a puppy to be eating these kind of treats? Please help! |

Well that depends on how sensitive your pup’s stomach is to certain foods. When my former lab Rosie was about 6 months old I could give her those rawhides, however she’d inhale it too quickly. I prefer the bones that are sterilized. They are very hard to break down and usually don’t lead to upset stomachs. You can hide treats inside and entertain your dog for hours, ok maybe a few minutes. :) My new beagle Izzy is another story, she tries to eat everything she can get her mouth on, but has a very sensitive stomach, so only sterilized bones and high-end treats for her. |

It depends on the size and strength of your dog |

Bullysticks are a great treat to chew. They last a while for puppies, natural, and are not dangerous like how raw hides can be. |

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is a bullystick? |
|
you can buy Bully sticks at most if not all pet stores and even Costco. This might sound gross but bully sticks are dehydrated bull penis. They come in several lenths from 4” to 3’ ft. |
