Hi, this is maybe a silly question.. Is it normal for my dog to be very calm in the house (maybe a good thing?) But she is very active outside and likes to play and agonize the local squirrells and cats hehe.. maybe she is just satisfied and normal that she goes to her bed to sleep?

Everyone should be so lucky!

It sounds to me like she is getting plenty of exercise when she’s out and about and then comes home to chill inside. It is ideal really.

Keep in mind that with dogs bored usually translates to something we humans think of as inappropriate behavior such as barking, chewing, pacing, begging for attention, etc. So she doesn’t seem bored to me.

As dogs mature this is generally how they act if they are exercised and confident/comfortable. On the other hand, she is new to you and your environment and still adapting. You may find that you are in the honeymoon period and that you haven’t seen her full personality yet. Sometimes dogs are super-calm in their new home at first, like polite house guests.

If you are worried about her being bored though, be sure to provide her with a few interactive chew toys and she’ll play with them if she is looking for something to do.

(she’s very cute, by the way!)

Hi. I agree with Kelly..everyone should be so lucky..
I am also lucky this way. Cracker is a go go go girl when we are out and about., Sniffing, running, jumping, chasing squirrels, balls, jumping in puddles etc etc..gosh I get tired just thinking of all of the energy she expends!
Then we come home, she lays down on the floor or the futon and sleeps. Every once in a while she’ll get up and play with a toy or one of the cats for a bit and then goes and lays down again.
A tired dog is a good dog!

If you take a close look at my pic, Cracker and her friend Rankin are doing what they do best at home…napping!

Hi. I again totally agree with tailspin and kelly you are very lucky to have a dog that just hangs out and is content in the house by herself. My dog Emmy drives me crazy she is always on the go every once in awhile I can get her to lay down and chew on a bone while I try to get a few things done in the house other than that she is following me around with a squeky toy or she is chasing my vacuum or she is trying to pull my bed spread off my bed if I ‘m changing my sheets and when I’m doing dishes she will sit at my feet and tug on my pant legs and bite my toes she has to have my attention all the time in the house when she is outside she is perfectly content chewing on sticks and leaves but unfortunately I can’t leave her outside without going out with her even thou my yard is fenced I worry about my neighbors stealing her. So be grateful it sounds like you have a great girl.

Hinrik, you have the perfect dog by the sounds of things. Which is a very good thing as it makes you the perfect owner achieving that oh so important balance.

Sounds to me like you will hardly find yourself needing this forum at all.

Congratulations, you have the perfect pet. Thinking of breeding? lol

Thank you all for your advise and comments.. So im sitting here smiling in my office.. still Jolie seems happy and content, but ofcourse she is teasing my from time to time which is fine by me.. and she listens if I raise my voice when she is doing something she knows is wrong. Im just trying to figure out why in some eveings in the garden she starts to eat grass.. maybe she is just copying what the horses do hehe, but is it because her stomach is upset? I know cats do this whe they have a bad stomach.
