I have a funny story to tell, not intended to offend anyone but interesting. We took our “mixed breed” puppy to her beginner’s class last week and while we were waiting, the class before us came out. A lady with a Poodle came out, looked at Luna and asked my husband if she was a Goldendoodle. So my husband replied yes and the lady had the “courage” to follow by asking if he wanted to meet the real thing and pointed at her dog. Could you believe that? Most people we have met with Luna have been very friendly towards us (and her) but once in a while you meet some who are just “less than thrilled” to meet a dog who is not pure bred. We are learning to laugh!

Oh I can relate….I have a cockapoo and called a grooming mobile to come to the house to groom. they arrived and when I brought her out…he says to me what kind of dog. I said cockapoo. He said “OH” we don’t do small dogs. Which is a lie because a friend referred them to me, and she has a yorkie…but its a purebred! Snobs!

This may ruffle some feathers, but some of the reactions you may be receiving may not have to do with the fact that these are not “purebred” dogs, but the fact that dogs like “doodles” -and “cockapoos” and “yorkipoos” and “puggles” and on and on – are considered to be fad breeds.

For the record I have three mixed-breed dogs, all rescues. They’re terriffic dogs and I have never felt like anyone looked down on them for not being purebreds.

What a bummer! I guess that woman would consider herself a purist, but all breeds are merely human creations. Don’t let her get you down. Luna is lovely! And very lucky to have found you to take such good care of her.

Well, maybe we should just start making up official sounding names for all of our mixed dogs. It’s all in how you say it!

“Yes, my dog is a Lachowshep (pronounced with a french accent). Haven’t you heard of this breed?? It’s fairly new. You should read the big article that just appeared in Dog Fancy. They’re REALLY hard to find!”

Then you can just smile at the thought of the poor soul leafing through the magazine before she realizes she was duped!

That’s a great idea. I’ll tell everyone that my mutt is a Labrapittierrier.

You don`t have to worry cause I have the best one.
He is black an white (as a cow) with a twisted tale (as a pig) but it is dog shape and he is the best dog I`ve ever have.
His name is Pintus
