I have 2 rott pups, I’ve owned many in the past but don’t remember them having such long ears. I’m hoping these guys will grow into them. The last rott pup I had was 12yrs. ago(my boy passed away in sept. of last year). Maybe I’m just reading more into this than needed. The boys are 6 months old now and growing every day!

Hi gypsy,

I just joined dogtime today- I think your pups will grow into their ears—people are always running their traps about how someone else’s dog (or rottie) should be—only to find that they don’t know what they’re talking about or have very little experience with the breed. my rottie is my first dog and I do lots of research on what’s recommended for him and I do a lot of “what works” tactics as well. Nevertheless, your dogs are cute and I love the pick with the Pittsburgh Steelers gear in the background. 1 more thing—do you have your dog’s bloodline to trace back what exactly type or origin rotties they are?? this will explain the ears as well, because they both look like full breed to me :-)

hi..

They perk up when interested, they droop when sad, they fold back when threatened. Even if they had no useful function for hearing, ears are as much an outward sign of a dog’s mood as his tail.
