Hi there…I think you must choose a dog that best suited your personality. if you’re thinking what breed, you can search what specific qualities youwant. In your choices like golden retriever belongs to sporting dogs group and border collie is from herding dogs group. You may also consider, if you have kids at home, what dog is best with children. If thinking a purebred or mixed breed dog, apparently mixed breed dogs are one of a kind, you cannot predict in terms of looks and behavior unlike purebred dogs are more predictable. We currently have seven dogs – two we purchased and five that people threw away when they no longer wanted them. So, be sure when you choose your dog that you make a lifetime commitment. Go to the page on this site that helps you choose a breed for your lifestyle. It is very good. Even if you choose a mixed breed, it will help you know which breeds to “mix.” A shelter dog is a good option. Often these are excellent dogs that someone just got tired of caring for – and they need forever homes. Don’t get a dog just because it looks shy and reserved and lonely. The more active puppy or dog is probably a better choice. And decide if you want a puppy or an adult dog. There are issues with either. Be sure you have the time and patience for what your choice needs. Please don’t be one of those that chooses hastily and then regrets it and decides to abandon their dog in the country. That is how we got five of our dogs – someone threw them away. |

I suggest that you get a Golden Retriever. Dog of this breed is indeed a great companion, no doubt about it. You can check these out to find more breeds and the right one for you. Please click on: http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/profiles |

Purchasing a purebred doesn’t mean purchasing a guarantee of temperament and health, however. The only thing the “papers” from purebred dog registry organizations certify is that the registry holds information regarding the reported lineage and identity of the dog. Your training and health maintenance will have the biggest impacts on your dog’s well-being. There are also advantages to getting mixed breeds that many prospective dog owners don’t realize. For instance, when you adopt a mixed breed, you get the benefit of two or more different breeds in that dog. A mixed breed dog is less prone to genetic imperfections common to some purebred dogs, and a mixed breed may be less extreme in the temperament department than some purebreds—for example, a Border Collie mix might be less intense than a purebred. Check this out. |
