i have 2 dogs, but 1 is especially allergic – to foods and fleas and whatever else.

This spring I have learned that k9-advantix burns her skin; comfortis while pork-based contains sterilized beef and she is allergic to it; while she tolerates frontline+ better, it doesn’t work for her.

I found a couple products at local health food store which contain neem, or neam. Flee, Flea [not sure who makes it] burns her skin as well and the neem shampoo doesn’t appear to be working for her either [altho I admit I mixed a couple of anti-itch shampoos with the neem shampoo and then diluted it, but not much].

I’ looking for suggestions on what to try next. She is miserable, but I have a couple of different anti-itch products which I apply topically as well as 1 benedryl 2x day.

Thanks so much, *ELB.

p.s. Marcy is allergic to corn, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, etc. She can eat fish, so I feed both Solid Gold’s Holistique which I highly recommend. I tried Honest Kitchen as well, but Marcy does not like it.

Dog’s who have reactions to the topical flea remedies often have to sensitivity to the liquid the drug is “floating” in, not the drug itself. Most have a isopropyl alcohol base for quick drying. Maybe do some research through your vet or the drug companies that produce the products to see if they a different product that has a different formula of drying factor?

Thanks, I will…I hadn’t thought that Marcy may be allergic to other ingredients rather than the flea preventive treatment.

Try www.cedarcide.com and look for “Best Yet” I am not related to Cedarcide in any way except as a happy customer. When my wife first showed me their site I told her it was a scam. She ordered from them anyway. Can you believe that? I was wrong, it is not a scam.

my daughter-in-law uses a product called dinovite canine powdered supplement she thought that her dog had allergies and it turned out to be nutritional deficiencies and she says she hasn’t had to take maggie back to the vet except for routine check ups
