My next door neighbor is having to move and cannot take his 2 yr old boxer with him. The dog does not like kids at all cause they were mean to him as a puppy, He will bite one in a min, The dog is a pure bread and he is beautiful. I am taking the dog cause i want to get him out of that and want to take care of him. I want him to trust me cause i do trust him. i know there is a way to get him out of this, but i need your help. anyone have any sugestions for me. I am willing to try anything.I have grandchildren but they are old enought to not go near him at all. but i want him to get to like children again. He is sort of sneeking, so i need to also learn how to read him. You have to realize that he has been mistreated by kids and he does not like them at all, but i am going to give it my best shot. I do love dogs with all my heart. I have one already that is my best friend and she is spoiled rotten. she is my house, she loves the kids, do you think that if i have him nudered that would help..plese respond with all your sugestion about the boxer, his name is teaser. |

I know what you mean. i trust my rottie completly with me but not with others. she also had a rough start until i saved her. she has snapped at people before even me not to hurt more like a leave me alone warning. she trys to dominate others in the house such as my fiance badly she is very jealous of him. i do think nudering would help. and always use confidence around him never let him sense you are nervous i would suggest letting him watch your dog with the kids from a distance let him see they are having fun together and take it very slow with many rewards for gook behavuior |

hi npettit59, i know this going to be a long learning experience for your dog and you, jiust be consistent and patient with him.. dogs tend to ignore/dislike children due to inconsistencies on behavior of childer, maybe you should coach your children on how to behave around him to gain his trust… http://dogtime.com/raising-people-friendly-dog…. hope that link may help… |

The typical Boxer is intelligent, alert, and fearless, yet friendly. He’s loyal to his family and loves to play with them. This link will help you know more about your chosen dog. |
