I was adopted by a nice lady after my stint in a animal shelter for a month. I must have been abused by a male although I like some males I don’t like the lady’s husband. He’s ok I just want to growl and bark at him. I check on him in his room he pets me and combs me but then as soon as I walk out and sit by the lady ,he comes out I bark and growl at him. I have even bite him twice. The lady I want to go everywhere with her. Last few nights she lets me out in my back yard fenced ,but then she wants me in I might go in 5 hours later but only if I want too.
Even though I just went out I go barking at the husband and tell him I want to go out. And then I stay out until I hear the lady say “lets go ” for a ride. I love the car. Sometimes when the husband goes with I beat him to the front seat and he has to sit in back with my room mate the beagle. I play with her but then if she gets between ME and the lady I growl at her. I don’t like her getting to close ,although I wait for her and we both like going in the car.
Maybe its my bringing up ,maybe its because I am half lab and half greyhound.I have the head and face of a lab but my body is pretty much greyhound. bark Bark

Maybe try having your husband take over feeding the dog? If it’s safe, he could even hand feed him. that might warm up the relationship!

Agree with Grace, you need to make your husband the most appealing thing in your dogs life!!!, he feeds your dog, gives your treats when being rewarded and does not….....sit in the back because the dog will not move!!...If you get to that point and the dog is showing aggresive behaviour towards hubby and not letting him in the car (Alpha behaviour)....you need to leave the car, get out go back to house , leave the door opn your dog will come out to see where you have all went….then start again..lots of praise when the dog goes in the back…...where it should be!! Good Luck…advice is easily given but not always easily put into practice!!! You have done well to give this dog a happy home…he has to learn to appreciate it…from his stance in the pecking order…at the bottom!.
