I just got a 4 month old beagle and she hates taking walks. Is there anything I can do to make them more enjoyable? She seems to love it once we are headed in the direction home is. But it is like pulling teeth trying to get her to leave home. Any suggestions?

Make it interesting! I use my children for this activity, if one of them is walking in front of them, there is nothing that will stop our puppy (9 weeks old). Well, she still does the I have to stop and catch this and smell that, but they can always get her going again. When I’m by myself, I use her treat bag, which is little and hangs from a string. She loves following it :) Hope it helps!

Sometimes puppies find the outdoors a scary big place. Try walking pup just around the home inside and reward with tasty treats. Once she gets through front door reward again? Maybe this will help? Playing the “follow me” game might help.

Our beagle is the opposite. Loves to walk in all kind of weather-rain, snow, sleet, windstorm, you name it. Now at 4.5 months she’s discovered pulling my arm in all directions following every scent out there. Too funny!
Good luck!
