I would like to create a new dog breed, by mixing-
-Miniature American Eskimo Dog
-Japanese Spitz
-and Icelandic Sheepdog
Do you think this is a good idea? What would I have to do to make my goal a sucess?
-do I have to get permission from the goverment to make a new breed?
I really need all the help I can get…
Thanks so much for helping me, Raspberries.

My opinion only, but I think we have enough designer dogs in addition to all the recognized dog breeds and mixes of all varieties at any local dog shelter. You don’t need anybody’s official OK to start a new “breed.” But it may take years before enough owners of your breed form clubs and petition the AKC for recognition. That would only stand a chance if the new breed you created would consistently have the same physical and behavioral charateristics so that it could be recognized as a breed. In other words, even if your new breed is eventually recognized, you’ll probably be long dead.
