Our puppy is still in the stage of crate training, however, she is spending more and more time outside her crate during the day and she has learned to relax. She likes sitting under the table while we are eating or lately if we were outside and it’s hot (I don’t know why she thinks under the table is cooler:). Anyway, we have conflicting feelings about letting her jump on the couch (my husband thinks it’s not OK, the kids and I think it’s OK as long as she is sitting with us). I think she just needs a soft spot to rest instead of the carpet and I was thinking it’s probably time to get her a dog bed as an alternative for her crate, which doesn’t have any bed, only a towel. This way, when she tries to get on the couch, I could direct her to her own bed. She likes her crate and goes there willingly, so I don’t think having a bed would upset her training, am I correct? She is 4 months now and has been in our family for 2 months. |

Absolutely get her a doggie bed. The way we got Daggie to use his bed was to give him a treat and give him a command to get on his bed. We use “kick back”. It’s automatic now when a treat is offered and it makes it enjoyable for him and you! Here you can find useful information about making a choice for the type of doggie bed that would work for you. |

Hi Luna, Abby our 6 month old Yorkie has two beds and she loves them both. We now keep her behind a baby gate during the night and she had her choice of the crate or one of her beds. She chose the bed so I removed her crate and put it away. One bed she sleeps in and the other she stores her toys in….her decision. We made a game of not being able to get her toys if they where in her bed and she loved it! I think the more beds the better. |

hi, Every dog should have a bed of his own. Or two or three or four, actually. A bed can be used for napping during the day and sleeping in at night. Unlike the floor, a bed will keep your dog warm, support arthritic joints, and prevent calluses. And if you’re allergic to your dogs, it’s best if they sleep somewhere besides your bed. here are some guidelines: |
