As noted on the other thread, get her spayed. You will be doing yourself and her a favor – and you will probably have her around longer. Don’t add to the puppy population. There are too many now that are unwanted and uncared for.

Get the dog spayed. Spayed dogs are much better companions because they do not want to mate which meens they are less likely to run away from home. Because your dog is already an adult, have your vet run some tests to make sure she is in good health before the surgery.

hi,

spaying your dog has a lot of benefits,

-will keep your dog from getting pregnant ..

-the surgery provides many health and behavior benefits, and you won’t find yourself with a bunch of puppies who need homes other than yours

-zero chance of getting mammary gland cancer-

-prevents pyometra, a common, life-threatening infection

hello, if you are thinking the importance of spaying, nikole is correct it has a lot of benefits for your dog, for you too as well as for your comminity. And, if you are still undecided to spay or not to spay your dog, checking out the link would probably help you:

Hi lynjackielsd,

Since you don’t want your dog to gain weight, I found this link that talks about myths and facts about spaying/neutering like dogs will get fat and lazy if they are spayed/neutered. Hope this one helps.

Hi, there,

The folks are right in that you should spay. If you are not a breeder, it is the only right thing to do. If your dog is a purebred, most breeders offer “companion” pups to folks who just want a pup for companionship or if you are into dog sports, or obedience, or whatever. Usually, the breeder selects those pups he/she thinks have good potential for strenghtening the bloodline. These guys are usually bred within the breeders stock or within another breeder’s line to improve the line. The others are sold as “pet quality” individuals. This doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with the pup, just that maybe their height, or bone structure, or head shape is not “breed standard”. Otherwise, these “pet quality” pups are usually are given to homes with a limited registration… that is if the dog or bitch is bred, the litter cannot be registered. Usually your good breeders will not breed with such a dog/bitch… alot of times the breeders will note "to approved stud/bitch. Spaying and neutering has many health and behavioral benefits as suggested by the other posts. Weight gain is not one of them… that is a myth. Diminished exercise is cause for weight gain. Feeding guidelines as you see on the chart of your dog foods is only a suggested amount. You must feed according to your dog’s age, health, and activity level.

Spaying will benefit your dog but be sure to look for the right vet. Check this link.
