I just inherited my Mom’s dog and she has a lot more freedom to roam on our land than she did at Mom’s. She’s probably around 5 human years. Can a dog be too old to be spayed? |

No at five she should be just fine to spay as long as she is in good health you should have nothing to worry about. The vet may want to run some blood panels before the surgery though just to be safe. |

Have your dog checked for health problems before any surgery. When I took my first dog Teyla to the vet to get spayed she was a very health dog, atleast she apeared to be. When I brought her home she went into shock and died. I had a vet that did not do the surgery check the dog to see what the cause of death was. The vet said that the person who completed the surgery did everything properly. She said that it looked like my dog had internale bleeding. |
