We just bought shoes for our border collie because he slips and slides on the hardwood floors. They seem to slip down where they flop on his feet. Anyone have a tip on how to keep the shoes on? Thanks!

Hey, There,

I have used them also on my Collies. They do tend to slip off and if you every watch any Huskies pulling a sled, you may notice that they have lost one or two. For hard wood floors or slippery linoleum, or slippery spots in dog training class, I find paw wax works pretty well. Also there is a spray the folks use in the show ring called “Big Foot”. I used it on my gal in training, and she must have not liked the smell, cuz she spent all her time trying to lick it off. But that’s just for short term use. I like the paw wax better for indoors. I usually use the booties for outdoors cuz of the ice balls that form between their furry little pads. If you tighten the booties too tight you risk cutting off their circulation. I don’t know, but now that you brought the subject up, I wonder if anyone in the horse market would know of a trick or two or maybe a product that could be used on dogs. They use leg protective gear all the time which is flexible and comfortable without causing friction or a too tight of wear.

Something to check into.

If I see or hear of anything, I will be sure to post it.
