My dog’s allowed on the furniture, but I want to keep her off my new (expensive, pristine) couch. Has anyone tried those trap things that make a noise when the dog jumps up? Do they actually work? How about the sprays? |

One of the problems with the trap things is that they only work once and then need to be reset. I am not sure which spray you mean and they might stain your couch. |

One of the best training tools I have found is simply a spraybottle filled with water. Spray in the face with the word “NO”. After a few times of this method, the dog will usually stop the activity at the very sight of the spraybottle. You must be consistant with both the bottle and the word “NO”. This method has worked for me on a variety of troublesome issues, i.e., jumping on people, getting on furniture and any other assorted problems that you want to stop. best of luck to you and your pristine couch. |

The spray bottle with water is a GREAT idea! I forgot all about it even though I used it years ago with my cat when she would sharpen her claws on furniture. It worked 100%! |

Hi, |

I use X-mats on the furniture I don’t want my dogs to jump on. They work very well and are economical to buy. |

A dog thinks if it is aloud to climb on one chair, it is aloud go on all of the furniture. If you let him climb on one chair let him climb on them all, or NO going on chairs at all. |
