Whenever I try to brush my peekapoo, she attacks the brush and wants to bite it. She is about three months old, and I’m chalking this up to her young age, but will she just grow out of it or should I try to train her not to bite? It’s gotten so bad, I end up using two brushes — one to distract her and one to brush her!

She possibly gets annoyed every time you do it. Just be more gentle with her. Brushing really is pretty basic. You just need to understand the type of coat your dog has and that determines how often you need to brush and what type of brush to use. To find out more, please click on:

Hi,

It takes a while for the puppies to get used to brushing but keep doing it, our pup is at the stage where she actually enjoys it very much and she relaxes. Give her a bitting toy when you are brushing her, so she gets all her “bities” out. We used to do that and now brushing is such a pleasure for both of us! Good luck.

Hi,

Give him chew treats or toys like Kongs to distract him. Check out this link to get more info:

Thank you all for your advice. I tried giving her a squeeky toy while brushing her and it worked much better. We actually made a game out of brushing her, I’d give her the squeeky toy and brush a few times, then throw the toy. She’d return it and I’d brush again, then throw the toy again. It’s working much better. Thanks so much!
