I got a dog brush that works like a hound glove. It works very well.

I don’t think you will read this Sadiegirl1507, but someone might want to know how hound gloves work.

A hound glove looks like two pieces of rectangular fabric (sometimes it’s corduroy)sewn together on three sides with a little spot open on the sides for your thumb to go in. You put your hand in the 4th, unsewn side, and stroke it over your dog. There are several different types:

1. wire slicker (hundreds of bent wire slicker wires on one side)
2. chamois (really nice for that last bit of polishing a short or long/shiny coat, like an Irish Setter before going into the ring)
3. sisal (beige colored plant fibers, rather stiff and cut to about 1/4 inch in a mat sewn onto one side of the glove)
4. horsehair (there are two I have seen – one with 1/4 inch all-over horsehair sewn onto a jute backing which is then sewn onto the mitt and one with several dozen horsehair tufts about 1/4 or 3/8 inch long…I like the all-over mat much better)
5. just plain corduroy on one side (great for a polish similar to the chamois side)
6. various combinations of the sides….

I can’t find one ANYWHERE any more and my old one was 15 years old. It was fine, but my IS puppy chewed some of the horsehair off it and I’m just SICK, SICK, SICK about it. I would love to replace mine. There were two major suppliers – Hindes/House of Hindes and Lawrence. This was the absolute best and my all-time favorite grooming tool.
