I am interested in a Great Dane puppy. Any experiences out there that you owners/breeders want to share?

Great danes are the best. If you’re not set on getting a really young puppy, try a rescue group. There are tons around:

We had a great dane for 9 years. She was the greatest dog! She would sit side saddled on the couch instead of on the floor. Her name was Cleopatra (Cleo for short). Danes are easy to train and are great pets. The only set back is they don’t have long life spans.

We are new to the website but I would like to say, my dane, is great. She was a little tricky to train because she was a rescue dog, but when she finally caught on she got it. The most hilarious thing that has happened to us is that we were out for a walk and a school bus drove by and all the kids on the one side just turned their heads and their mouths dropped open. Those are the kinds of experiences you will have with a dane. I am hoping to adopt another Great Dane in the future because of the awesome adventure I have had with Millie. Good luck to you! Let us know if you have any questions!

THE FUNNIEST,FUN LOVEING DOGS YOU WILL EVER OWN. IT IS TRUE THEY HAVE A SHORT LIFE SPAN. WE PUT OUR 10 YR OLD MAXWELL DOWN YESTERDAY AND I TELL YOU ITS THE HARDEST THING YOU WILL EVER DO. BUT ALSO WATCHING HIM SUFFER FROM CANCER WAS TAREING MY HEART APART.LAST NIGHT WAS THE FIRST NIGHT IN 10 YRS WE WENT TO SLEEP IN AN EMPTY BED.ITS JUST HEAR WRENCHIN.YOU HAVE TO KNOW ITS LIKE HAVING A CHILD,YOU REARRANGE YOUR WHOLE LIFE FOR THEM.WE GOT A BIGGER BED,A BIGGER VEHICLE.YOU HAVE TO SHARE THE COUCH.LOTS OF DOG HAIR AND DOG DRULL TO CLEAN UP.A SEPARATE SECTION IN THE YARD FOR HIM.AND WE PUT OFF MANY VACATIONS FOR NOT WANTING TO PUT HIM IN A KENAL.WE HAD MAX SINCE HE WAS 8WKS OLD TILL HE WAS 10.I WOULDNT HAVE TRADED HIM FOR THE WORLD,AND LOVED SHOWING HIM OFF.THEY ARE TRUE GENTAL GIANTS.WE WILL REMEMBER HIM FOR THE REST OF OUR DAYS,AND WE WILL NOT BE REPLACING HIM.I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A YARD FULL OF GREAT DANES BUT IT TRUELY DOES TAKE ALOT OF SACRIFICE. I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO HAVE HIM BACK.PEACE BE WITH YOU MAX.
